about

Rövarsongen was written by Björn Isfält for the children's fantasy film Ronja Rövardoter based on the book of the same name by Astrid Lindgren, and is a song the robbers sing in the film with deep bass parts.

I grew up with the fantasy film Ronja Rövardoter. It's a very beautiful song, I think, and it has a certain magic - it feels timeless and like it's always been there. I think the song has nice and exciting harmonies - I have read that Björn Isfält, who wrote it, took inspiration from the old traditional Georgian male choir tradition.

I felt a kinship with Ronja Rövardoter and her bond with nature when I saw the film. Although I now live in a city (Gothenburg), I grew up in the countryside, and I still feel that walking in forests and parks restores me and gives me new energy. Rövarsången has no text, but my personal interpretation is that the bandits sing it as a tribute to nature.

I have created a soft soprano version with choir, an electronic soundscape, violin and drums. Hope you enjoy it! <3 // Josefin
